Enough
What the fuck is "enough"?
A concept that is widely and frequently expressed in all senses and meanings of the word, but its rarely a sincere, full-chested, conviction.
The question "When is enough, enough?"; The statement "Enough is enough!"; The exclamation "Enough!"; The existential dread "Is this enough? Am I enough?"; The tragedy "There aren't enough..."
I fear I could continue ad nauseum, but I suspect that was enough. "Enough" often implies a limit, some kind of line that must be or should never be crossed, a benchmark for performance. Its use, or overuse, is a disservice. An empty threat, a hollow promise, a meaningless sentiment.
"Enough" begs to imply not only action, but severity. When "enough" is reached, it ought to be known, unmistakably, by an outside observer. You know the sentiment, a witness to the profound action "Wow, I guess they have had enough..." you've seen it, felt it, maybe said it yourself.
Philosophically, it echoes of the common, intentional, misuse of the word "literally". "If I eat one more I'll, literally, explode." Though I'd argue that is a far more benign misuse than the destruction of "enough".
"Enough", ought to enter a room a mere stride before the consequences it has in tow. We, society, must be willing to wield "enough" properly, meaningfully. I don't suggest it be used less, I plead for it to be meant more, always, in fact. I want you, me, the last person you saw, the next 500 you see to say "enough" and understand the implication that word should illicit and intend fully to follow through.
Imagine it... ponder it... live it... For us all, mean it!
We must mean "enough" and commit to it or we will not be enough.
